Kanye's Surprising Compassion for Bush

After the 2009 VMA incident between Kanye West and Taylor Swift, West had taken some time off. During this time, he had realized he had made a mistake of interrupting Swift and has new levels of compassion now.
During George Bush's presidency when Katrina hit, West made a comment that Bush didn't like African Americans. This of course, is not true and Bush was offended by the comment.

This was a "discusting" moment for Bush and was a difficult season for the people in Louisiana, as well as the administration.
Matt Laure had interviewed Bush regarding his Presidency and the Katrina crisis had come up. Bush expresses his grief over the criticisms he received and also explained his views on the events.

"Lauer: 'You say you told Laura at the time it was the worst moment of your presidency?'
Bush: 'Yes. My record was strong, I felt, when it came to race relations and giving people a chance. And it was a disgusting moment.'
Lauer: 'I wonder if some people are going to read that, now that you've written it, and they might give you some heat for that. And the reason is this.'
Bush: 'Don't care.'
Lauer: 'Well, here's the reason. You're not saying that the worst moment in your presidency was watching the misery in Louisiana. You're saying it was when someone insulted you because of that.'
Bush: 'No, and I also make it clear that the misery in Louisiana affected me deeply as well. There's a lot of tough moments in the book. And it was a disgusting moment, pure and simple.' "

West said on an interview radio that he sympathizes with Bush because after the Swift incident, he felt the criticism as well.

From Rollingstone.com, New York's Hot 97 broad casted Tuesday night, (Nov. 2, 2010),
West said in regards to the Swift incident, "It's an amazing, compelling situation. The situation is bigger to me than the Bush moment. It's bigger than a lot of things."

West's compassion towards Bush included a statement from him when he said,"Well I definitely can understand the way he feels to be accused of being a racist in any way. Because the same thing happened to me," West told host Devi Dev.

'With both situations, it was strictly a lack of compassion that America saw. You know, with him not rushing, not taking the time to rush down to New Orleans. With me, it was the lack of compassion in cutting someone off in their moment. Nonetheless, I think we're all quick to pull a race card in America. And now I'm more open, and the poetic justice that I went through the same thing that he went through, and now I really more connect with him on a humanitarian level, because that next morning, when he felt that, I felt that same thing too.' "

It seems as though the 2009 VMA incident has made a serious impact on West, for the better. West has a new album coming out November 22, 2010. The album is called "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy."
